God's Wisdom and Promises

“Only as far as we seek can we go…Only as much as we dream can we be.”

I found the above saying in a graduation card I had tucked away in my collection. Whether it’s our grandchildren, niece, nephew or our own child, at graduation time we look for just the right card. We want to give our loved one encouragement and advice as they take the next step in their lives. If we want the best for our children, how much more does God want the best for His children? Yes… I’m talking about you and me!

We don’t have to wait for a special event, accomplishment or time in our life to get advice or encouragement. We have God’s Word that we can turn to anytime for strength and direction in following our own dreams.

The Bible is filled with God’s wisdom, promises and guidance. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV): “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” In this verse, God is not only giving encouragement and hope, He’s asking us to trust Him.“Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.”(Jeremiah 29:12-13)

Here’s what the rest of the graduation card said:

May God bless you with the courage

to accomplish all you can,

to set no limitations

And pursue your (His) every plan.

May God help you to appreciate

each trait that you possess,

to know that your potential

is your doorway to success.

May God fill you with self-confidence

and give you self-esteem,

and bless you with a future

that fulfills your every dream.

James 1:5: If any of you lack wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him (you.)

Psalm 145:13b: The LORD is faithful to all His promises and loving to all He has made.

Psalm 119:105: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

Do you trust God’s wisdom and believe His promises? You can read and even memorize God’s Word, but if you don’t trust and believe what He’s telling you … it’s all for nothing.

In this verse, God is not only giving encouragement and hope, He’s asking us to trust Him.
