About Us

Lighthouse Wesleyan Church is a Christian family that demonstrates love to one another as we submit to the Holy Spirit and purposefully mature in our Christian faith. Together, we seek to understand the good works God has prepared for us to do in our community and to lovingly reach others with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Lighthouse is a place where you can come as you are and connect with real people who are trying to learn what it means to follow Jesus in our daily lives and mature together in our faith. We offer a meaningful worship experience with strong, Bible-based teaching in an accepting and welcoming atmosphere. The vision of Lighthouse is to be a harbor of hope and a guiding light for the world around us. We hope you will visit us soon and consider making Lighthouse your church home.

Our kid’s ministries meet at the same time as our adult worship service on Sunday mornings. We offer a nursery for children four or younger, as well as age appropriate lessons for K-5th grade, junior high and high school students. Our volunteers are passionate about serving kids and are committed to creating a safe, clean and fun opportunity for your children to grow in their faith.

BIBLICAL AUTHORITY: The Bible is God’s holy Word. It uniquely and infallibly reveals God’s plan for His people and how to live out that plan, individually and corporately.

CHRISTLIKENESS: Jesus Christ is the defining feature of God’s will and relationship with all humankind. In Christ is found both newness of life and the highest and clearest example for godliness.

DISCIPLE-MAKING: Making disciples is a clear mandate from Christ. This requires a strong missional focus on evangelism and training in spiritual growth and holy living.

LOCAL CHURCH CENTERED: Local churches are the most fundamental and strategic points of evangelism and discipleship.

SERVANT LEADERSHIP: The authority and effectiveness of spiritual leadership is not primarily bestowed, but earned, and is characterized by a loving and willing heart of obedience that serves God and mankind gladly.

UNITY IN DIVERSITY: There is intrinsic value in every person. Biblical unity becomes all the more important and beautiful in the light of the wide-ranging differences in personalities, cultures, races, languages, talents, and perspectives.

What we believe
About Wesleyan

Our Story

The Wesleyan Church was founded in 1968 when the Wesleyan Methodist Church and the Pilgrim Holiness Church merged. Our earliest beginnings, however, were in 1843 when our leaders organized to address social issues through The Wesleyan Methodist Connection of America. Those issues included slavery, women’s rights and child labor atrocities. We were one of the first denominations in America to ordain women and were at the forefront of giving laity significant roles in church leadership.

John Wesley, a Church of England priest, was the inspiration and founder of the Methodist movement. Our name “Wesleyan” honors him. Wesley was an outstanding Oxford scholar, yet regarded himself as “a man of one book,” the Bible. It was while studying the Bible that Wesley received assurance of his salvation through faith. It was the Bible that motivated his vision for offering Christ to the common people of England and which eventually led to the nation’s greatest spiritual revival.

Biblical truth inspired Wesley to develop a school for orphans, job programs and medical assistance for the poor, efforts to reform inhumane prisons and arguments for the abolition of slavery. Confidence in the Bible as “the only and sufficient rule for Christian faith and practice” remains a hallmark of The Wesleyan Church today.

Our Beliefs

Wesleyans believe in one God, who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and the Savior of all who put their faith in Him alone for eternal life.

We believe that those who are made new in Christ are called to be holy in character and conduct, and can only live this way by being filled with the Lord’s Spirit.

We believe in the Bible and its sufficiency to establish our faith and conduct.

We believe God wills for people everywhere to know Him and be made new in Christ.

We believe that the purpose of the Church is to worship God in spirit and in truth, and to reach a lost and fallen world with the gospel of Jesus Christ through its worship, witness, and loving deeds.

Our Convictions

The Bible is our written authority.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God and our Savior.

Heaven and hell exist.

Reaching people for Christ is our passion.

LIGHTHOUSE WOMEN

Changing hearts...changing lives…one sister at a time! Women’s Ministry at Lighthouse Wesleyan Church is a Sisterhood. We are not only bound together in Christ but we are bound together through our experiences. As sisters we have laughed, cried, shared, grown, encouraged, prayed and loved together. Our common bond in Christ is the glue keeping us like-minded in our ministry of reaching in and reaching out to the community around us.

LIGHTHOUSE GROWTH GROUPS

Growth groups are Lighthouse's version of traditional small groups or Bible studies. Growth groups offer an environment where you can grow in your faith, make friends, find spiritual accountability and go forth in ministry.  Groups typically meet weekly or bi-weekly in someone's home. If you have any questions about growth groups or are interested in starting a group yourself, please contact a leader at church.
